Park Royal Beach is just a 5-minute walk from these two terminals and will require $40 per person to access since it’s part of a hotel. For our most recent trip to Cozumel, we decided to book a day pass at a beach club on our own. Two options consistently came up in our searches, Mr. Sancho and Nachi Cocom. Both of these require you to book directly with them, and you’ll need to take local taxis on both ends of your trip.

While most people just call everything on the island Cozumel, the main city that you will no doubt visit is called San Miguel. Home to about 80,000 people, San Miguel is a bustling medium-sized town, and gets especially busy when cruise ships are docked (which swells the population of the island). If you dock here, then you don’t have to go far to go swimming.

The rates are fixed and charged according to the number of people taking a cab. However, skip the queues and catch a taxi by walking out of the port in the southern direction. Hail any taxi returning from the other ports and destinations. It will also be a bit cheaper this way but ensure you confirm the price before getting in. We exited our ship at our leisure once we docked, and found our way to the cab line outside the port.
Wi-Fi is Available in Some SpotsThe Internet on the ship can be pricey. One good thing about being in port is that some spots have free wi-fi that you can use to connect. For example, Pancho’s Backyard at Puerta Maya features free service so you can catch up back home while enjoying a margarita. So you can skip the ship’s Internet and check in from the island. The Two Ports Are SeparateIf you arrive at the International Pier or Puerta Maya Pier, you’ll see that they are right next to each other. Even so, they are separated and only available to passengers on ships in that port.

Q: Where can I find a taxi at Cozumel Cruise Port?
This area is packed with brand stores (Tag Heuer, Diamonds International, Harley Davidson) and fabulous bars/restaurants (Hard Rock café). Ferries are double-deckers, modernly equipped, and feature a cafeteria where you can buy coffee and snacks. When cruise ships anchor, tender boats will moor at smaller piers next to Puerta Maya or the International Pier. At the height of the Caribbean Season - between November and March, in particular - the port of Cozumel may be visited by over 8 cruise ships.
Beach Clubs In Cozumel
It was beachfront, with easy access to the water, the restrooms, and a bar. Right away, our drink order was taken, and we settled in to enjoy the beach. When I visit the Caribbean on a cruise, I usually want to visit a beach. The beaches in the Caribbean are my favorites, and there are some fantastic options. You’ll usually see beach breaks included in the official excursions.
Especially great for people who wear glasses as you can have them on under water. The third way visitors get to Cozumel is via a cruise stopover. Cozumel is the busiest cruise port in Mexico, with its three piers seeing as many as seven ships at once during high season. You don't have to be PADI-certified or go very far offshore to have an epic underwater experience in Cozumel. Off the southern coast of the island is a beach called Playa El Cielo, famous for the thousands of underwater starfish scattered across the fine white sand, much like stars in the sky.
"They even encourage you to go to the fish market and bring them the catch of the day, which they will prepare for you. They prepare a mean coconut shrimp." While The Explorean is adults-only, its sibling resort, Fiesta Americana Cozumel, welcomes families to its oceanfront location. Guests can expect a private boat dock with overwater beds, suites with balconies, and five restaurants. A Cozumel institution, the InterContinental Presidente Cozumel Resort Spa has a lengthy white-sand beach and five-star accommodations.
There are many more places you can dive and snorkel in Cozumel, so don’t look at this list as exhaustive. In fact, if you have a great reef to check out please let us know in the comment section below this post. We will add it to the list if it looks good so everyone else can benefit. Even if you just want to rent or bring along some snorkeling gear you will want to check out these pristine waters at one of the many coral reef locations. There is a plethora of options for renting a vehicle and driving around Cozumel as well. The island is easy to navigate in a matter of a couple hours if you don’t make too many stops.
Nature lovers can indulge in the island’s largest ecological reserve at Punta Sur. Whether you want to enjoy the white sandy beaches, climb the stairs to the historic Celarain Lighthouse, or catch up with the local crocodiles, Punta Sur Eco Beach Park is a gem on Cozumel. You can find a variety of flora, fauna, flowers, birds, and even sea turtles.
The symbol for pesos is the same as for US dollars, which can be slightly confusing. Prices in dollars (in tourist areas) are labeled "US$" or sport an S with a double stroke. Cozumel is a small but well-maintained island with a ring road, as well as one that bisects the island. There's a certain kitsch factor at El Cielo Lounge Bar, from the neon cursive signs encouraging bad decisions to the electric blue cocktails and clouds of hookah smoke.
